According to Freud, our adult personality is heavily influenced by what happens to us during the first 5 or 6 years of life. Therefore, when a child presents difficult moving through a particular stage of development, it may result in fixation, leading to the expression of behaviors characteristic of the stage at which fixation happened during the adulthood.
I present characteristics of the anal stage, possessing an anal personality. I am usually stubborn.
According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, personality is defined as "the complex of all the attributes- behavioral, temperamental, emotional and mental- that characterize a unique individual."
